How to make a denim zipper pouch with a color-block design (How to sew a denim pouch with a zipper)
How to make a zipper pouch using denim and check fabric. (Pouch bag with zipper tutorial.) This zipper pouch features a striking color-block design with a strong presence. The look of the pouch changes depending on how you combine the fabrics, so it’s recommended for anyone who wants to make a unique zipper pouch.
The method for making a color-block pouch by hand is simple. The key point is to sew the outer fabric and lining to both sides of the zipper first. After layering the fabrics, sew around the edges, leaving an opening for turning. In the final step, turn it right side out and stitch the opening closed. With this, your handmade color-block zipper pouch is complete.
This zipper pouch can be easily made with fabric scraps, so if you like it, try making it in different sizes or with different patterns. Because this zipper pouch has a design that isn’t too flashy and is easy to use every day, you’ll naturally find yourself reaching for it more often after it’s finished. The finished size of this zipper pouch is approximately 13cm high and 14cm wide.

Materials for the denim zipper pouch (Color-block zipper bag making materials)
The outer fabric of the denim zipper pouch consists of two pieces, each 12cm × 17cm. (Including seam allowances, with fusible interfacing applied to the back.)

Applying fusible interfacing gives the fabric more stiffness, helping the zipper pouch (zipper bag) keep its shape.
The reinforcing fabric for the bottom of the denim zipper pouch consists of two pieces, each 5cm × 17cm. (Including seam allowances, with fusible interfacing applied to the back.)

The lining of the denim zipper pouch consists of two pieces, each 15cm × 17cm (including seam allowances).

The zipper (zipper for bag making) is a single 14cm metal zipper.

Fold the ends of the zipper tape – the top tape end and bottom tape end – into triangles and stitch them in place. When making a zipper pouch (pouch bag), finishing the ends of the zipper can make sewing a bit easier. It also has the advantage of giving your handmade zipper pouch a neater appearance.

Fold the ends of the zipper tape (the top tape end and bottom tape end) so that they do not extend into the seam allowance of the pouch (pouch bag). If the zipper ends overlap the seam allowance, it adds bulk, making sewing more difficult and affecting the finished appearance.
